The dMEC specialises in the use of videoconferencing to support
teaching and learning. The videoconferencing facilities at the
centre are available for schools to use and equipment can also
be made available for schools to use by special arrangement. Currently
over 20 Devon schools are using videoconferencing and the number
is growing steadily.
Devon Curriculum Services's work with Global Leap and the DfES
on the Videoconferencing in
the Classroom project started in July
2000. The project is now into its second phase. The publication ‘Videoconferencing
in the Classroom’ was published in May 2002 and a print copy
can be ordered on line. It can also be downloaded from the DCS
and BECTa websites.
